FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is PetriCoffin?
A: PetriCoffin is a spooky-themed store that focuses on Halloween, goth, and other alternative sub-culture items ranging from bags, clothing, and accessories to stickers and pins.
Q: Who makes your bags?
A: I do! I design everything myself and draft my own patterns, and receive help from my mother (seamstress of 20 years) to complete certain projects. Everything is handmade in the United States.
Q: What are your bags made of?
A: The majority of my bags are made from either marine or upholstery vinyl, with cotton velvet accents and cotton or polyester interior linings. Sometimes I use vintage fabric, so the origin or type of fabric is not always known. At this time, I do not make items with real leather or other animal products.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes! Please see my store policies for more information.
Q: Why don't you do rush orders or express shipping?
A: Because everything is hand-made, sometimes I encounter unexpected delays. This may change when I have ready-to-ship or manufactured items in stock, but for now I can't commit to tight turn-arounds.
Q: Do you do custom orders?
A: No, I no longer create custom items.
Q: When will you make [insert bag design] again?
A: Some items are limited edition, some items are seasonal, and some items are year-round and will return every few months. I can't guarantee when something will be back in stock, but I aim to please––so feel free to ask and I'll try to answer!
Q: Do you offer coupons or discounts?
A: Sometimes! Because we make everything by hand, it can be challenging to offer items at discount. Every so often we post items that may have some flaws or oddities at a discounted price, often randomly posted so that it's first-come, first-served. We hope that in the future we can incorporate more discounts and deals!
Q: Do you sell patterns to your bags?
A: NO. If you ever see a pattern for a PetriCoffin bag or a bag that is imitating a PetriCoffin bag for sale anywhere that isn't this website (petricoffin.com or petricoffin.myshopify.com) then it is fraudulent, stolen, or a reseller. Please let me know and report these listings, as they negatively impact our small business.
Q: Do you offer wholesale?
A: Yes! Send me an email at petricoffin@gmail.com and we can discuss wholesale options.
Q: Do you do collaborations with other shops, brands, or artists?
A: I'm open to the idea! Send me an email or a message on instagram and let's talk about it.
Q: Why is there a 25% cancellation fee, even if I just barely placed an order or cancel before the 7-day cancellation period is up?
A: Because my shop is so small and my items are on the higher side of the price scale, processing refunds and cancellations during a product drop can negatively impact my store's standing with payment processors. I don't have the same kind of financial leeway as huge retailers or brands. Additionally, my items can sell quickly, and to have people manipulating the item inventory to "lock people out" or attempt to scam me can be very stressful and make things confusing.
To make sure everything can run smoothly and inventory counts remain accurate, please make sure to read our store policies and item descriptions thoroughly, and carefully select the items and upgrades that you want. If you have any questions, you can always message me on instagram, via email, or through the contact page.
Q: I got a tracking number for my package, but it hasn't moved in (X) amount of days, or it says "Label Created". What's going on?
A: When your order is almost done (as in, all parts are completed and just need to be assembled with final touches and inspection), we purchase and pre-print your label to prepare for packaging and shipment. Because I often send parts to my production partner in another state, that means your bag parts and it's label and other associated materials are being sent to them so they can be fully assembled and packaged. Because of this final shipping step, it can take about a week or so to see movement on your tracking. If it's been longer than that however, please reach out via email and I'd be happy to provide you with an update!
Q: Do you make items for kids?
A: While my items may be Halloween-themed, whimsical, or colorful in nature, my products are intended for adults and should not be purchased by children or used without adult supervision. Many items contain small parts, and the inspiration behind certain items may not be appropriate for children.
